iRacing (PC) Empty iRacing (PC)

Post by FranchittiFan Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:48 am

Thought it was about time we made this thread as Darren has also now joined the iRacing world!

I pay for iRacing monthly at $7 a month plus $1.50 tax.

Ive been racing for a few months now and I have a Rookie Oval License and a Class D Road License. To start off in iRacing you have a few free cars and tracks and every week the tracks change for example in the Mazda cup you could be racing at Lime Rock for a week then it'll change to another track. The 1st few championships are stock stocking but as you climb up the ladder you have to start tuning, and it can be a right pain!

The best way to get better licenses is to race as clean as you can as there is a safety rating (known as SR). The rating is basiced on incidents on track for example If i have a spin its 1SR, if I hit a wall its 2SR, If I hit another driver its 4SR. the limit of SR's you can get is 16 if you get to 17SR in a race, you will be parked and will lose alot of points on your License!

You dont have to win races to move up, just race clean and you'll move up quickly, the only down side is you have to start paying for more cars and tracks. ($14 a track, $11 a car) Theres like 25 odd tracks and alot of cars too!

Im planning on making a Ax4x league on iRacing if more drivers join, itll be great fun as I can turn off the SR system for a league!

Can't run iRacing on a laptop and no wheel, either.  Sad

You up for a race around Summit Point in the legends at some point tonight? I've got more used to the car round that track. I'm still getting used to iRacing and my new wheel though. My PB so far is a 1:29.1

I got 3rd!

Mate when you get to the screen that says warm up, go to garage then shared setups and mine should be there.

What wheels or controllers do you guys use? I've been holding out on PC Racing because it's impossible to be quick using just a keyboard. I was waiting to see what Fanatec are doing for the Xbox One, so I could get 1 wheel that works for both instead of buying 2 separate wheels.

I've got the Fanatec CSR wheel with the elite pedals, the shifter and the stand.

Going to look at getting a TORA iRacing championship going, thinking a stock MX5 championship with the free tracks, just need to look into it with more detail

I'm really enjoying oval racing a lot more than I thought actually. One more race and I'll have my D class license. Hoping to get to the NASCAR series eventually for oval and Star Mazda for road.
