TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
CRA Erebus wrote:
The most controversial ATCC series ever in existence, one of the most famous lines in motorsport "You're a pack of assh*les" comes from the Bathurst 1000 of that year when Mark Skaife and Jim Richards one the Bathurst 1000 in not a ford, or holden, but a Nissan Skyline. However, some of the greatest racing occurred in that year however as it was the last year that manufacturers such as BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Volvo, Mercedes raced in the series before it became the Ford and Holden rivalry that lasted until Nissan and Mercedes rejoined the competition this year. And Now, it's coming to TORA.
The cars are in their final stages of balancing and full car list will posted soon.
Classes:
there are 2 classes for this series are as follows (thanks to wikipedia):
Class A
For Group A cars of over 1600cc (1.6L) engine capacity, it featured the turbocharged Ford Sierras, Nissan Skylines and Toyota Supras, V8 Holden Commodores (Lotus Carltons for this), four cylinder BMW M3s and a BMW 635CSi. there are AWD cars in this
Class B
For Group B cars of under 1600cc (1.6L) engine capacity, it was composed exclusively of various models of Toyota Corolla.
class a does not necessarily have a handicap to match with class b, or vice versa, it is simply to group them easier for engine sizes
each car will have individual builds to make them equal across the calendar
this aside there are manditory parts:
Forza front and rear Aero
Race Tyre
Races Brakes
Race roll cage
A Class
Displacement upgrades allowed as long as it stays within the class builds (so no smaller than 1.6L for A, no more than 1.6L for B)
NO conversions
NO chrome rims
1993 or earlier (but car list is restricted more than that)
there will be 8 rounds for this season
dates TBA:
R1: Sedona Club Reverse
R2: Road Atlanta full
R3: Mugello
R4: Maple Valley full Reverse
R5: Mazda Laguna Seca
R6: Silverstone International
R7: Infineon NASCAR
R8: Twin Ring Motegi East
each race will be 20-30 minutes in length with 2 races for each round.*
this excludes Maple Valley Full Reverse which will be 1 1 hour race.
Qualifying:
Qualifying works similar to that of current V8SC in the way that there will be 1 15 minute qualifying session with the top 30% taking part in the Shoot Out where the lobby will be set to 3 laps and each driver will have 1 warm up lap and 1 flying lap to set a time, the 3rd lap is so times can be gathered. only 1 car will complete their shootout at a time for this.
there will be mandatory logos for this series which include a V8 Supercars logo, channel 7 logo, TORA logo and URL.
there is no mandatory number box as long as the number is clearly visible.
points system:
this series will use the actual point system used in that year:
3 to the driver recording fastest time in Qualifying
20-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 to the first ten outright finishers in each race
note: for the Maple Valley round, points will be worth 2.5 times their usual (1st 50 points, 2nd 40, 3rd 35 etc etc)
This will be updated later in the week once testing is done and everything is finalised
i really hope this gets some interest because it's a lot of fun with the different levels performance in each car and what each car bring to the table, with cars being fantastic at some tracks but average at others,
sign up will be soon if i get enough interest
thanks guys

I'd like to see this series go, as it looks very promising. I'll certainly be there in my Ford Sierra

I was thinking of a "1980s or 90s Touring Car Championship", which this is. Interesting.

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
we must be in sync Mikey
and i think i'll just scrap the Class B cars, no cars that are on the list fit the engine regs so it's not worth it
gonna put in a Community even form thing on saturday morning between the Minis and the IROC because then i can see the time difference between them which is when i'm thinking of running it, not too late for UK guys, not too early for US/AUS guys (hopefully)
do you guys recon that will work?
and car builds posted here: http://forums.theonlineracingassociation.com/t11380-tora-tcr-1992-australian-touring-car-championship-car-builds
took ages to write it all up lol if you want a build for a car i can send it as well

A bit too early for West Coast US, but okay for the East Coast US. Hope to see you get more Aussies in though.

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
Oh, I think that is unfair for it to be that early considering this is an Australian series . As Mikey has said before, 12:00am GMT is probably the closest we're going to get to a Global timeslot.
That is an awesome Kangaroo.

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
11pm Saturday works for me, just remember the TASCAR tho, what if its running late?
Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
i was thinking after the mini's on friday or in Mikey's timeslot on Saturday night?
i can't do it at 11pm BST on friday nights because otherwise it would run into Mikey's IROC/Can Am series as i'm guessing the events to run for around 1.5 hours (2 2-30 minute races with 1 1 hour race, 15 minute qualy and shoot out)

I'm not sure if this has been corrected, but I am working on it.Kilroy8 wrote:posted in introduction as only moderators can create a section in the 'TORA Series/Events' place.

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
I think we should definitely have it at 12:00am GMT. That isn't too late for the UK. The Friday Night Series has probably got the most diverse grid, in terms of nationalities. And a midnight series means It'll never conflict with work schedule. (Unless you work nights)

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
Kilroy I was not complaining about early starts 6am for me is 8am for Erebus. I get up at 2am for the Minis and 4am for Tascar. As long its Friday or Saturday I'm good.

Re: TORA TCR 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship
Ok Erebus. The ball is in your court, as this week marks the last of the Can Am Series. A week or two break between series is totally acceptable, but we better get the ball rolling sooner than later.
